Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the center?

You can take a flight from  Lima Airport (Jorge Chavez International Airport) to Pucallpa Airport, where we arrange for you to get picked up directly or from a hotel.

Ayahuasca is a sacred plant medicine brew that has been used for millennia by indigenous communities of the Amazon. It contains the naturally occurring psychedelic compound DMT and is known for its powerful ability to support deep physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Many people turn to Ayahuasca for personal growth, healing past traumas, and gaining a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them.

It is important to note that Ayahuasca ceremonies can be really intense, whether emotionally, physically, psychologically, or spiritually. Challenging experiences are a natural part of the healing process, and at Rao Kaya, we provide a safe and supportive environment to help you navigate whatever arises with care and respect.

When guided with proper care and expertise, Ayahuasca is a safe and deeply healing medicine for most people. However, it’s a powerful medicine that brings about strong physical, emotional, and spiritual processes, which is why proper preparation and guidance are essential.

At Rao Kaya, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. Before your retreat, we ask you to complete a detailed medical form so we can screen for any health conditions or medications that could make Ayahuasca unsafe. If needed, we may also request additional information or offer guidance to help you prepare safely.

Throughout your time with us, you’ll be supported by Shipibo healers and facilitators who are deeply familiar with the medicine and the healing journey. We monitor all guests closely during ceremonies and throughout the retreat to ensure everyone feels safe, seen, and cared for at every step.

It’s common to experience purging—such as vomiting, sweating, crying, or emotional releases—as part of the healing process. These reactions are seen as a natural part of the healing process, helping the body and spirit release and cleanse.
